Systems were kept operational 24/7. Central Flying School is responsible to
        train all Air Force Pupil Pilots while rendering Pilots rating for all the flying
        instructors in the South African Air Force.


        CFS Dunnotar Flight Training was transferred to the South Western Cape to Air
        Force Base Langebaanweg  (CFS Langbaanweg). This transfer  marked  the
        phasing out of the very trustworthy Harvard aircraft which was subsequently
                                                                         replaced by the ultra-modern

                                                                         Pilatus Astra MK2 as the new
                                                                         training aircraft for all South
                                                                         African Air  Force Pilots.
                                                                         Together             with           the
                                                                         introduction of the Astra MK2

                                                                         aircraft,         the         Aircraft
                                                                         Simulators were assured in to
                                                                         aid the Flight Ground School
                                                                         with more comfortable and


        obvious        less     dangerous          flight
        training. WO Rick Greyvenstein was
        the only technically qualified member
        to  ensure  that  the  flight  simulators

        were maintained and presented  the
        SAAF Pilots at International Aviation
        Flight Training Standards necessary
        to  qualify  as  fully  fledged  Air  Force
        Pilots.


        WO Rick  Greyvenstein  was  transferred  to  Air  Force  Headquarters  to  the
        Directorate Command & Control Systems. He  worked on  multiple  classified
        projects during his time here and was successfully transferred to AFB Swartkop

        as the Technical WO responsible for the upkeep of Ground to Ground, Ground
        to Air Communication Systems.


        WO  Rick  Greyvenstein  will have
        completed  a highly distinguished
        career and  will  be retiring  from the
        South       African       Air     Force       in
        September 2020 after completing 40
        Years  and  9  months  active  and
        continuous service.
