Netflix UK to cheer you up in self-isolation

Self-isolation can be worrying, lonely and dull. Which is why it’s probably a good
idea, if you’re trapped in the house, to open up Netflix and enjoy the best stand-up
specials it has to offer.

From young Aziz Ansari to Amy Schumer’s latest, here are 25 shows to turn that
dry cough into a chuckle.
1. Lynne Koplitz: Hormonal Beast (2017)

In a nutshell: A tough-talking comic in the Joan Rivers mould, Koptliz excels in the
role of straight-shooter. There are fusillades about hormones and natural disasters,
while she’s funny and honest about her decision not to have children.
Best gag: “I feel like Barbie… years later.”
2. Amy Schumer: Growing (2019)

In a nutshell: Better known today as a star of mildly funny rom-coms, Schumer is a
gifted stand-up with a special line in gags about sex, bodies and genders. Now, with a
husband in tow and a baby on the way, she spills all on a life turned newly domestic.
Best gag: “When you’re pregnant, you don’t stop being you. You don’t stop working,
or drinking...”

3. Jen Kirkman: I’m Gonna Die Alone (And I Feel Fine) (2015)

In a nutshell: Outspoken in person, on stage and on Twitter, Kirkman is at her
hard-hitting finest in her latest Netflix project. Using her most personal material to
date, she talks frankly about divorce, motherhood and sex. Gender politics plus
rapid-fire wit won’t be everyone’s mug of Ovaltine, but Kirkman is one of the slickest
in the business at what she does.
