Generic Structure Function
Goal/aim It describes the purpose of doing or operating something
Materials/equipment It describes the materials or the equipment needed in the
process of doing or operating something
Steps/methods It describes the set of instructions in order to achieve the
goal.

Using simple present tense.
Using adverbial of sequence
Adverbial is word or phrases functioning like an adverb.
There are two types of adverbial:
- Adverbial of sequence which is used to add detail information about the sequence.
For example first, second, finally, etc
- Adverbial of time, manner, or place.
For example for five minutes, slowly, under running water
Using imperative sentences or command.
An imperative sentence gives a command. It usually ends with period but it may also
end with an exclamation point. Commands ask or tell people to do something. For
example: wet hands, apply soap.
Using action verbs.
Action verb is a verb that expresses an action. Any verb that describes what someone
or something does is an action verb. For example: rub, rinse.
Using conjunctions to link a process to another process. For example: before, after,
until.
