MC 3 – MICROBIOLOGY AND PARASITOLOGY
At the end of the course and given simulated/actual situations/conditions, the student will be able to:
CILO 1. Apply the concepts and principles of microbiology and parasitology in the holistic and competitive nursing care of individuals
CILO 2. Utilize principles and techniques in the collection, handling of specimens and identification of microorganisms and parasites
involved in the infectious processes
CILO 3. Identify means of diagnosing diseases caused by pathogens
CILO 4. Enumerate nursing interventions that can help in controlling and preventing the spread of pathogens within different care
Course Intended settings relate stewardship, community, love of God and neighbors in planning care for patient who are at risk or are suffering from

CILO 5 on IZN: Analyze the global burden of infectious diseases, with an emphasis on understanding the international distribution of
pathogens and the impact of globalization on disease spread and management.
CILO 6 on GAD: Recognize and address gender-specific health issues and disparities in the context of microbiology and parasitology,
promoting equitable health care practices and policies.
CILO 7 on SDG: Evaluate and advocate for sustainable practices in the management and control of infectious diseases, including
antibiotic stewardship, vaccination programs, and the development of new, sustainable health technologies.
