Meet your officer and
their favourite tree
The Eco-Schools team are busy this term supporting
young learners to plant their very own orchards as part of
Keep Wales Tidy’s Local Places for Nature scheme!
Matt: Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea
Trees have the power to root us in a time and place
which is why my ‘shaggy’ friend, covered in moss,
ferns and lichen is one of my favourite trees. Being
near it reminds me of family time playing in the river
with my boys under its protective branches come rain
or shine.
Aimee: Newport and Cardiff
In 2006 I was fortunate enough to visit Pfeiffer
Big Sur State Park in California, home to redwood
trees - the tallest trees on earth. They were truly
magnificent!
Catrin: Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire
Not only do I think that the horse chestnut is a
beautiful, big tree, I have very fond memories as
a child of the excitement of finding shiny conkers
within their prickly casing. It’s a delight I am
enjoying all over again with my own children!
