Eco-Schools International
Pupils at Cambusbarron Primary School
in Scotland took their Litter campaign
beyond the school gate, taking on a
dog fouling problem in their village.
Pupils carried out an initial litter pick
of the three playgrounds in the school,
they counted how many pieces of litter
were picked up so that they could
use this as a baseline to measure to
improve upon.
They did this every day for four weeks
and then shared what they had done
with the whole school at an assembly
as well as raising awareness of the
danger of dog fouling and encouraging people to pick up after their
dogs.
The results were fantastic, they
achieved a massive reduction
in the amount of dog fouling
in the local area.
To celebrate their success,
Cambusbarron Primary School
pupils attended the Wrigley
Litter Less Award ceremony
at the Lighthouse Gallery
Glasgow and was the first school in Scotland to be presented with the
Wrigley Litter Less Campaign Best Initiative award.
