Communication technology shapes our cognition.
For instance, when we were verbal alone that created different kinds of relationships than when moveable type was introduced and allowed people to read. The written word allowed for expanding knowledge, sharing beliefs and the synthesis of ideas from different cultures. Print technology changed our perceptual habits including a "visual homogenizing of experience.” Now electronic technology has changed society in new ways.
