Spotlight on RG411
This month’s interview is with Tom Lozinski, Field Clerk, RG411
I started my career with Loram in January of 2004. I
have been a field clerk for the past 17 years on vari-
ous machines in Canada and the United States. My
first machine was RG316 in Canada. I boarded in
Winnipeg in January after my training at the Hamel
office. I was on maintenance shift for two months
when the Superintendent, Robert Barron, asked if I
would like to take over the field clerk position.
The last few years I have been working towards my
retirement, putting contacts in my company phone
for whoever takes my position. One thing I have
done and that I really enjoyed was, I was able to at-
tend a new hire class in Edmonton Alberta with Josh
Gunderson. It was nice to talk to a class of new hires
and answer any questions they had about Loram and
give them some insight as to what they can expect
and talk about my experiences over the last 17 years.
I have had many good experiences working for Loram. I have been able to travel across Canada from
ocean to ocean and see the country in all the 4 seasons. Fall time through the Rockies is my favorite time
of the year. I have been to many exciting places and have met a lot of great people in my travels. I have
many friends across Canada and it’s nice to see them when we are back in their town.
My favorite task on the machine is making sure my clerk duties are fulfilled every day and the machine and
my co-workers have what they need to perform their job and have any personal items they may need. It
gives me a feeling of accomplishment.
My hobbies are many. I enjoy looking after my flower and vegetable gardens at home. Tending to them
and reaping the benefits come fall time with fresh fruits and vegetables. My wife, Sandy and I both take
great pride in our flowers and have started all our flowers from seeds we have harvested over the past
few years. Both Sandy and myself enjoy going to the gun range and target shooting with our hand guns as
we both have our restricted gun license.
In the wintertime we both enjoy the outdoors on our snow machine and tour our 18 acres of property.
My day off at work is usually spent cleaning my company truck. I am very particular when it comes to the
OR, just ask anyone of my co-workers.
