OPERATIONS UPDATES

         Operational Excellence Coins

         Congratulations to the following employees

for being recognized with an Operational
         Excellence Coin!

Rhett Powell, Superintendent DC2 was nominated by Marc Hackett for his 3rd
         Quarter Director’s Coin

This coin is being awarded for your willingness to tackle a problem and stick with it until the end. As you are aware,
recent levels of parts consumption related to DC2’s drive system has been much higher than normal. Not only are
the parts expensive, when they fail the result is a machine down situation. Additionally, the work required to change
those parts can be a challenge and pose safety concerns. Your actions, your evidence gathering, your phone calls, all
drove a response that resulted in a finding that showed our supplier was not delivering as promised.

We will never know exactly how much money was saved as a result of your efforts, but what we do know is that
your actions drove results. This is exactly what makes you a great superintendent. You have tenacity, you own
what’s yours, but you knew in your heart this problem was not caused by operator error, it was something more.
You stood up for your team, you studied the travel system and you took the one photo Wade needed to recognize
what was missing. At the time of component teardown your theory was proven correct.

Rhett, for your tenacity you are being given the 2021 Quarter Three Director’s Coin. This token should serve to
remind everyone that sees it how hard work and stick-to-itiveness pay off. Thank you, Rhett!

Terry Huffman, Crew Chief SBC2402 was
nominated by Bo Hemberry for his September
          General Recognition Coin

I presented Terry with an Operational Excellence coin due to his
in-depth inspections. These inspections have identified structural
damage to both 2400 series ballast cleaners. Catching these is-
sues early has provided time to address the issues before exten-
sive damage could develop. These areas are hard to get into and
are often covered in sludge. Terry’s disciplined efforts have stood
out as he strives to supervise the night maintenance crew on
          SBC2402.
