INDIA OPPORTUNITIES by Jon Behrens, Project Director India

Are you looking for adventure? Do you
like to visit new and exotic places? Do
you like to experience new places and
cultures? I am excited to say I have the
            perfect place, India. Please continue
reading to familiarize yourself with the
current state of Loram’s India activities. I
hope after reading this you choose to go
            on this adventure with me.

India has been a market Loram tried for
many years to enter. Loram’s first sale
was for a SX machine in the 90’s. It was-
n’t until 2010 Loram sold two 72 stone
            rail grinding machines. Recently, Loram
secured contracts for 17 machines, 6
switch and crossing grinders and 11 main
line grinders. These contracts make up
the largest single customer sale in Loram
history. This will make India Railways the
second largest owner of rail grinding
equipment in the world. Their fleet of
equipment will be 19 mainline and switch
and crossing grinders. They still have the
            option to purchase additional equipment
            in the future as well.
This opportunity has required Loram to plant a flag in India. Loram Rail Maintenance India Private Lim-
ited was set up to service the needs of our customers in this region. Loram India, along with our Oper-
ations and Maintenance partner Vandhana International Private Limited, will be providing grinding ser-
vices to Indian Railways and other metros for our newly sold machines. These grinding contracts will go
out into 2027 with the machine delivery portion ending in late 2023.
These machine sales allow for Loram Maintenance of Way employees to travel to India during the com-
missioning and technical service visits. If you are interested in traveling to India. Please contact Brian
Giop at Brian.W.Giop@loram.com. He is managing all the commissioning resources for Loram. Or you
may reach out to me Jon.T.Behrens@loram.com. I look forward to seeing you on the Indian rails.
