The earth shook and ashes fell from the skies,
He quivered trying to hide from any attack,
The firearm held tight in his grasp yet so loose,
The last thing he sees before it turned all black,
He arouses at lightning speed,
"Honey?" His wife awoke beside him,

He sharply pants as he struggled to breathe,
H e s a p l a t s h e s r g l d o b r a t e
Right, he is back home with a missing limb,
The memories of war were that of the past,
He had done his service in Afghanistan,
As a soldier needed to fight in their war,
Yet the war has not quite released the man,
He was held as a hero on his return,

Even when a leg was taken as debt,

With the rest of his crew now laid to rest,
He could still hear the screams and regrets,
Much less he could stand the cries of anguish,
His heart had clenched at the depressing sight,
For those, his crew called family and friends,
It felt like their deaths were not worth the fight,
