       In  2018,  China’s environment  ministry  indicated  that  the  number  of
       sources of pollution in the country had increased by over 50% in less than
       a decade.

       Awareness of pollution’s harmful eff ects has persuaded many to install
       air purifi ers. Meanwhile, face masks, once favored by people with colds,
       have become a fashion statement.


       Australian beauty brand QoQoB is just one example of how companies are
       responding. It off ers a three-step process that claims to activate the skin’s
       natural detoxifi cation processes.

       In a further development,  Johnson &  Johnson
       recently added the City Shield range of products to
       its Neutrogena brand.  The range has been inspired
       by  the  everyday  stresses  on
       skin.  From  air  pollution  and
       crowded transport, to offi  ce air
       conditioning, late-night excess
       and sun exposure.

       The City Shield range not only
       boosts hydration,  but  helps
       strengthen  the  skin’s natural
       defence  against  pollution and
       other aggressors.

       It’s a further sign of the beauty
       industry  shifting  to  defence
       mode.
