(vii) collect and mark students’ research papers;

(viii) keep records of students’ marks and submit these, together with their work, as requested by
         CXC®; and,

(ix) ensure that the guidelines are closely followed and the criteria are adequately met.

NB. It is the responsibility of the teachers to ensure that the research paper is the students’ work
         as plagiarism and other forms of cheating will be penalised.

Authenticity

Teachers should ensure that each research report is the work of the student. This can be achieved by
viewing and monitoring the report throughout its development. This guards against plagiarism and
ensures that the work is the intellectual property of candidates. Authenticity can also be checked by
having students:

1. discuss aspects of the report;

2. explain primary and secondary sources needed, and summarise findings; and,

3. complete aspects of the research under the supervision of the class teacher during class
         time.

The structure of the project should be as follows:
