For example The Lodge School and Queen’s College experienced some challenges in
               meeting the deadline set by the Ministry which resulted in items such as pottery pieces that
               required firing being submitted to the Ministry way past the deadline date. Notably, the
               schools took images of the items because some of these fragile pieces could have been
               damaged en route to Jamaica.

               12.     Script Reviews

               The Committee members were informed that CXC had revised its policy on script reviews.
               Under the new policy, CXC no longer automatically conducts a re-mark of the paper for
               which a candidate had submitted a request for a review. Members were informed that instead
               CXC:

                       a) conducts an Administrative Review to validate the accuracy and completeness of
                          the scoring of the paper;
                       b) if an inaccuracy or lack pf completeness in the scoring is detected, this will be
                          corrected, and the findings reported;
                       c) if the review finds that there is reason for further concern about marking of a
                          script, CXC will undertake to have the script re-marked;
                       d) where a re-mark is done, the resulting grade stands in the place of any previous
                          grade;
                       e) when a re-mark results in an improved grade, the candidate’s review fee is
                          refunded;
                       f) when a re-mark results in no change, or in a downward change of the candidate’s
                          grade, no refund is made; and
                       g) re-marked scripts do not benefit from borderline considerations.

               Members of the committee surmised that candidates risked the chance of receiving a lower
               grade.

               Members expressed concern that the deadlines for queries and reviews for 2017 did not
               change given that the 2017 CXC results were released late.

               13.     Autocad/Technical

               The National Committee members were informed that CXC is pushing ahead with its
               program for the introduction and use of AutoCAD in Technical Drawing. Members were
               informed that CXC had pinpointed the year 2018 to start exams and likewise has indicated
               that the year May/June 2019 as the year for exams for Autocad in Technical Drawing. The
               suggestion was made that Autocad should also be available for the teachers.
