                                               and working abroad. Remittances represent significant proportions of GDP,
                                               aiding development. However, reliance on remittances often comes at the
                                               expense of fostering a strong national economy and workforce.
                                               Another benefit of technology has come as a result of advancements in
                                               medical care such as in the use of laser technology in operations.
                                               Businesses also benefit from technology in that it can be integrated into
                                               the production process, thereby increasing output and reducing the cost of
                                               wastage. If firms use more machinery and less labour, fewer employees are
                                               required and this results in lower overhead expenses in the form of wages.
                                               Technology can be used to ensure the efficient operation and management of
                                               a business.
