The Best Carnival Ever
E
very August, Grenada has its annual Carnival.
On Carnival Tuesday, Kim and her brother
Michael decided to experience the parade of the
bands on Lagoon Road. When they arrived, they
could not believe how crowded and loud it was.
There was a truck passing with band members
playing steel pans. Kim thought the steel pans
sounded so melodious. As the steel pan players
travelled along, the first set of mas bands were
approaching dancing to Soca music.
Kim and Michael could not help but admire the
exquisite and colourful costumes. The male
costumes were bright blue and yellow with red
glitter and sequences resembling an exotic bird.
The females wore red and blue bikinis with
feathers. With excitement, Michael tugged on his
sister’s shirt shouting “Look how tall those men
are!”
