This past spring, an animal lover named James laid his eyes on an adoptable dog on Pet-
Finder.com., his name was Dale.
Intrigued by Dale’s profile, James visited The Crossings Animal Society FaceBook page and
watched a video of Dale meeting his foster family for the first time after a long trip from MA-
MAS Shelter in Bamberg, South Carolina to C.A.S. in Washington Crossings, PA. There he
saw that Dale was just what he was looking for , a medium- sized, super affectionate, licking
his fosters’ faces, wagging his tail, and exhibiting an innocent and playful energy.
James immediately fell in love, and submitted an application to adopt Dale from The Cross-
ings Animal Society (CAS).
After receiving and processing several applications, the CAS Adoption Assistant reviewed
James’s application and completed the additional steps required for an adoption to occur,
including a virtual “home visit” and a call to his veterinarian. Needless to say, James was
thrilled when he was contacted to attend a meet-and-greet with Dale and his foster family.
James recalls that everyone wore masks, but Dale wasn’t phased by them—he just licked the
masks! The foster family relayed their experiences with Dale, how his favorite activities were
sleeping on the sofa and sunbathing, how he has met kids and other dogs, and had the occa-
sional accident in the house, but will let you know when he needs to go outside.
The meeting confirmed that matching Dale with James was kismet, and the pair drove off to
live happily ever after in Connecticut.
James says that Dale, now known as Mugsy, is the best dog who just gets better every day.
