MY SECOND HOME
YASH KUMAR
IX/X AAHELI BASU , XI/XII
I wander through each floor and corridor,
And my eyes start to swell,
In a flash I realize,
Today’s my farewell.
I wore makeup today,
But no teacher scolds
Memories race past me
And I try my best to hold.
I see my two-year old self,
Face stained with tears
I long to wipe her face and shout out loud
“Here you'll have the best years.”
I want to tell the fifth standard me
Not to wish for the last school day
“Because leaving the school is perhaps
The greatest price you'll pay.”
I want to tell at my ninth standard self,
Not to get angry when friends tease,
I want to shake her and say
“They are the best gifts, be at ease.”
I hear the auditorium mic
I know I have to go,
But I need a minute to say
The lines I believe deep and true.
WE ARE THE RULING CROWN
WE ARE DPS NEWTOWN.
