Yoga can be broadly divided into four main paths:
Bhakti Yoga is the path of devotion. It purifies the mind and uses one’s emotions to try to
reach the ultimate.
Gyana Yoga is the path of using one’s intelligence to reach the ultimate.
Karma Yoga is the path of action. Realization is achieved through hard work.
Kriya Yoga is the path of internal action. It involves the transformation of one’s energies to
reach the ultimate.

“Yoga is the journey of the self, to the self, through the self “
When one understands that materialistic life is futile and that all is a delusion in this world (maya), one turns
to Yoga as the ultimate resort. The aim of life is to unify our soul with the ultimate and it can only be fulfilled
by practising Yoga.
Yoga is not associated with any religion, there is no involvement of faith. It is a scientific set of processes.
Although the ultimate soul cannot be realised by material sciences. Spirituality is as scientific as the
processes of nuclear fission or change of phase of a physical body. Thus, it can be concluded that Yoga is
the most significant gift given by India to the world. Yoga is the solution to major world problems today. It
is one of the most important subjects we all need to study at this hour to achieve a happy and harmonious
world.
