Peace reigned In the Kuwait desert throughout the
year. One of the very few parte of the world about which

this statement can be truthfully made. The rains were
reasonably good and the suamer was a remarkably mild one
so that there was little cause for irritation or complaint,

                  (a) ?audl Arabia, Very friendly relations were

maintained throughout the year. In December the Shaikh
Joined His Majesty King Ibn Saul at the Shaikh of Bahrain's
Camp at Gesuma, The three Arabian rulers spent a very

pleasant ten days together, hawking by day and discoursing
by night. It seems reasonable to assume from reports
received that no politics were discussed and that the party
was politically of no partloular significance.

0>) Iraq. The British ocoupation of iraqL has
resulted in better relations between the two countries,
but there is still much room for improvement and there are,
I regret to say, signs that the Iraqis are more than

willing to resume their unpleasant an! unfriendly pre-TIay
          habits.
