8. SLAVERY.
Thirty-nine slaves applied for manumission
certificates during the year and thirty-seven were manu-

mittsd. Of the thirty-nine applicants thirty were domestic
slaves and the remainder were captured slaves.
9. WEATHER.
The total rainfall during the year was .52 inches.
The weather in May and June was up to Muscat*s worst

standard but after that it relented and the nights were
frequently relieved by traces of the South-West monsoon
breezes.
