during the year,
(g) Sav.vid Fc.hr bin Taimur. He remained at the Mayo
College Ajmere for the year,
(h) Sa.yyid Dhiyab bin Fahad bin Turki. Nothing has
been heard of this gentleman*
II. MUNICIPALITY.
The work of the Municipality during the year has
been confined practically entirely to petty repairs of
buildings and road6 and to clearing and cleaning. This
is partially explained by the fact that its budget has
remained constant while prices of all building materials
have .risen* Due to other more immediate pre-occupations
it has not been possible to spare this department the
time heeded-to give it the encouragement it was last
noted as continually requiring.
J.II. EDUCATION.
The primary school still under the headmastership
of Anwar Effendi at-Tamini has continued to do. good work.
IV. GENER-'J. CO^TNICATIONS.
(i) Cable. Cable and v/ireless Limited brought a new
cable into Muscat on Mai’- 24th connecting with Aden and
working with that station on the 30th May. The inotalla-
tion of apparatus in connection with this and the general
increase in the carrying capacity of the Gulf system
necessitated an addition of eleven men to the Company's
staff and the building of accommodation for the new
equipment*
The Muscat-Karachi cable v/as interrupted for a
short period in January and the Muscat-Bahrain cable in
January and November. Messages v/ere sent by wireless
telegraphy.
