Hla Highness Shaikh Hamad remained In Bahrain during
the greater part of the year. He spent a short time during
the summer at his country house on the island of Umm Nasan
and at the end of the year went on a hunting trip, which

lastod 25 days, to Saudi Arabia, where he was Joined by
His Majesty King Ibn Saud and Hla Highness the Shaikh of
Kuwait* During Shaikh Hamad18 absence in Saudi Arabia

Shaikh Salmon, the Ruler’s eldest son, acted na hla Deputy,
Shaikh Mohammed bln 'lea, together with other mem­
bers of the A1 Khallfah family, accompanied His Highness on
hla hunting trip.

Hiring the year, the death occurred of Shaikh
Khallfah bln Hamad bln Mahomed who obtained some notoriety
many years ago by hla Intrigues with the Persian and Turkish

Governments. He belonged to a senior branch of tha Ruling
Family.
