                Students of the Girls Schools were forbidden to go to School in veils
             at the end of the year. A few parents removed their girls from the schools
            and Jew hooligans jeered at the girls. The Police gave them protection
            and there was no trouble.
                Abbas Khan Nakliai, an influential man of Rawar and Safar Ali of
            Kerman were accused of making disparaging remarks and were deported
            to Shiraz and Bandar Abbas respectively.
                The Shah’s Birthday was celebrated as usual on the 14th March. The
             Governor-General held a reception at the Government House in the after­
            noon and all the European community and the heads of the departments
            attended. A joy caravan procession organised by the Army went round
            the town. The military and Amnich headquarters were illuminated and
            shop keepers were forced to decorate their shops. Press. The “Bidari”
            edited by Hashimi, “Istiqamat” by Asadullah Rcshed (Raise Motakale-
            meen), “Seda-i-Kcrman” by Abbas Scyed and “Ainah Jonoub” by Majd
            Nawabi are the four newspapers issued in Kerman. They publish notices
            about the Registration of Property, articles on deportment and modern
            European costumes and customs and carefully censored news.
                Hashimi, the Editor and Proprietor of the “Bidari” having produced
            a daily for six years has now started a weekly illustrated issue.
                Health and general welfare.—Doctor Sohrab Barkhurdarian, the
            Provincial Health Officer, since 1932 left for Tehran on 22nd September
            and Doctor Shu-a-ai, the Municipality Doctor acted until the permanent
            incumbent Dr. Parviz Sediq arrived from Tehran in December.
                There were no epidemics of any kind during the year. The general
            health was satisfactory as reported elsewhere under C. M. S. Hospital.
                13. Military and Conscription.—Sartip Mohammad Khan Maimand,
            the Officer Commanding Kerman Brigade left for Tehran in September.
            Sarhang Ali Khan Mohajir Commandant of the Razmjoo (Infantry) Hang
            officiated until he was relieved by Sarhang Seyahpoush in October.
                It is said that the Teep (Brigade) will be made into a Lashkar
            (Division) from the beginning of the Iranian New Year 1315 (22nd March
            1936).
                The 14th Anniversary of the Coup d’etat was celebrated by the Mili­
            tary authorities on the 22nd February, with a military display on the
            parade ground.
                The construction of new cavalry barracks and an officers’ club was
            started during the year on a site to the south east of the town on the
            Saraseyab road.
                Disarming of Baluchis continued during the year and about 25 Balu­
            chis with a small number of arms and ammunition were brought to Kerman
            during January and February and are still under detention.
                Definite negotiations with Baluch chiefs and the release of Sardar
            Hussain Khan son of late Sardar Sai’d Khan at Iranshahr in February
            brought a more peaceful atmosphere to Iranian Baluchistan.
                The Kerman Column despatched against Baluch outlaws in October
            1934 returned from IChwash in May.
                A detachment of 120 Infantry guarded the Kerman—Bandar Abbas
            motor road from Gakhum to Sirjan in addition to Amnieh posts throughout
            the year.
                Abdul Hussain Kamran remained at large throughout the year and
            was responsible for a few isolated raids in Minab and Jiruft districts. In
            October he raided the village of Dehshed in Rudbar and captured a
            quantity of Government corn after a ifight with Government guards. FTe
            killed Sarvan Kangarloo who commanded the detachment that went in
            persuit of him.
