In 1901 a proposal was made by the Resident, at the instance of Captain
Hare, that the Residency Surgeon at Bushire should be granted an allowance
of Rs. 100 a month for medical charge of the Telegraph Staff at .Reshire and
that he should be entrusted with the control of the medical and sanitary arrange
ments at Jask and Fao. As, however, the Director-in-Chief of the Indo-European
Telegraph Department was of opinion that the arrangements hitherto in force
had worked satisfactorily, the Government of India decided not to make any
alterations (Foreign Department letter No. 379-E.A., dated 17th February 1902).
