APPENDIX O TO PART L
The following tables summarize the result of the third year's
observations at the Bushire Residency
Tables 1 to 5.
Observatory, and tables showing the
general temperature of Shiraz and Delibeed in Ftfrs are added. In the
summer of 1870 at Bushire the wind termed " shemfd” or " barih”
commenced early in May, and continued through that month. During a
great part of June southerly winds prevailed. The shemal may be said to
have partially failed, and it is noticeable that this failure was, as in
the preceding year, followed by a scanty winter rainfalL
Excluding the rainfall of April 1878, and including the falls in
April 1879 and 1S80, the winter and spring rainfalls of 1878-79 and
lb/9-S0 were inches 5-1G and inches 6-3£ only, whilst fair and good
years range from 12 to 20 inches. The hot season of 1879 was on
the whole mild in comparison with that of 1878. The barometer
readings for the year are complete and trustworthy
