Sir,
I have the honour to refer to the correspondence ending
with my despatch No. 133-S • » dated lat/7th May 1927.
On your recent visit to Bahrain I discussed with you
the Dov/aair question.
On my last visit to Bahrain I made a visit to the
Dov/aoir village and called on the one Dowasir Shaikh who has
permanently returned, by name Shaikh Abdul Latif.
This Chief would never have left Bahrain had he not
. .»
been forced to do so and' he took the first opportunity to
I return, accompanied by between 250 to 300 of hie tribe.
He told me that he controlled some 600 or 700 of his
tribe but that the Wahabis would not allow tire remainder of his
tribe to return. The 7/ahabi authorities state that the men
may go but that the women and children must remain in JIasa,
and Shaikh Abdul Latif asked me if I could take action to
assist him. This I will do is (mediately if I meet Ion Baud.
Shaikh Abdul Latif also informed me that there is
only one hothead among the Shaikhs who is stopping tho desire
I
Idfec of tho others to return. Otherwise the whole tribe would
return if allowed to by tho 7/ahabio.
