                The Foreign Navy was represented by R, F. Surprise, Owing to political Tours,
            considerations necessitating his presonce in Maskat, tho Political Agent only
            paid flying visits to tho Batinch Coast and Sur in tho autumn.
                In tho spring Monsieur II. Laronce, tho French Consul, with his Dragoman
            left in a badan for Sur as usual to examine tho papers of the dhows flying tlio
            Frenoh flag. Ho was absent 12 days.
                His Highness the Sultan in tho Nur-el-Bahr visited Sur, Ras-el-Had,
            Ras-el-Jabal, Soliar and 1( hah ura. Owing to complaints by British subjects
            against tho Wali of Khabura, His Highness, having personally enquired into
            the mattor, deposed him and appointed the Wall of Shinas in his place.
               Iu December tho Hon’ble Major Sir H. McMahon, Agont to thoViBlta*
            Governor-General in Baluchistan, paid a private visit to Maskat in R.I.M.S.
            Lawrence. Private visits were exchanged with His Highness tho Sultan.
               Tho Political Resident in tho Persian Gulf paid no visit during tho-
            official year.
               Two suspicious foreigners visited Maskat. One, an Egyptian* Abdul Nasib Poroignora.
           Autaki, editor of tho El Amaran published in Egypt. He visited tho Sultaa
           and then left for Bahrein by tho slow mail.
               Tho other, Juman-bin-Ahraed-ush-Shantrah, came from Sana in tho
           Yemen. He had also an interview with the Sultan and left for Debai.
               Major W. G. Grey, I.A., continued in charge of the Agency and official changes.
           Consulate.
               Captain Norman Scott, I.M.S.r continued in oliarge of the Agency
           Hospital and His Highness’s quarantine arrangements. There were no changes
           among the foreign representatives. Monsieur R. Laronce continuing as French
           Consul and Mr. W. Coffin as American Consul.
               The relations of the Political Agent with his foreign colleagues has
           remained cordial throughout tho year.
