The Shaikh had not been able to find a Quarantine Medical Officer in

Assistant Surgeon in charge of the Victoria
Memorial Hospital carried out the duties of the Quarantine Medical Officer
in addition to his own dulies during the year. Shaikh Isa has decided in
consultation with the Political Agent to continue this arrangement until he
can find a suitable Medical Officer. The Assistant Surgeon would be assisted
by a Sub-Assistant Surgeon in the Hospital work. In November an epidemic
of fever and influenza broke out which lasted for six weeks. There were about
1,500 deaths from influenza.
