CONSTITUTION & BYLAWS
Archon Douglas R. Bender, Sr.
The Grand Constitution and Bylaws Committee has officially met twice since the
beginning of the biennium and has engaged in robust discourse regarding what we should do during this 49th Administration. Our time together has focused on clarifying our work (mission) and the process we might use to add high value to the Fraternity going forward. At a ‘strategic’ level there is universal agreement that we will:
•Develop a ‘preamble’ to aid all Archons in being aligned with what the Grand Constitution should be as well as our Grand Bylaws.
•Clearly define both the Constitution and Bylaws, including the appropriate content for both.
•Take a comprehensive approach to examining the Constitution to get it clear
to help minimize future need to amend
it so frequently.
In the near future we will seek agreement to a process with the Grand Sire Archon and Grand Executive Committee for moving forward with our work so that it is also aligned with concurrent work the Fraternity is undertaking on organizational effectiveness so that we are ‘fit for the future’ in all respects.
A small subcommittee (Croom, Floyd, Morgan) led by Archon Terry Blount is charged with drafting a preliminary document that reflects what we believe the content and structure of our Constitution (and a separate Bylaws document) should look like.
The members of this great committee include Archons Terrence Blount (Beta Nu), William Croom (Gamma Beta), Donald Floyd (Delta Zeta), Johnny Gibbons (Delta Rho), Odell Horton, Jr. (Delta), Charles Morgan (Alpha Theta), Odell Thompson, Jr. (Delta Omicron), Andrew Topps (Epsilon Rho), Greg Vaughan (Alpha Omicron), Richard White (Eta), and James Wynn (Gamma Sigma).
