BOULÉ FOUNDATION LIAISON
Archon Jerlando F. L. Jackson
Since assuming office, Grand Sire Archon Murray and I have worked to identify the best way Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity can serve as an accelerator and partner to the fundraising goals of the Boulé Foundation. With that ob- jective in mind, we are setting up the Boulé Foundation Appeals Committee.
The Boulé Foundation Appeals
Committee is charged with development and fundraising to support Grand Sire Archon Dwayne M. Murray’s leaders- hip theme Vision, Leadership, and Action During Changing Ti- mes. Specifically, these efforts will target the membership and membership-led organizations well positioned to contribute to the Boulé Foundation:
• Provide leadership support to the Grand Sire Archon’s Challenge, initially establi- shed by Past Grand Sire Ar- chon James Payne, to stron- gly encourage Archons to move to the next level of giving to the Boulé Foun-
dation.
• Prepare materials and mes-
saging that showcase the impact of giving to the Boulé Foundation
• Appeal to Archons and member boulés to reach 100% Minton-status.
• Establish relationships with organizations and non-members that currently give to initiatives similar to the awardees of the Boulé Foundation.
BOULÉ SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Archon E. Ron Kelley
The Boulé Scholars Program is Sigma Pi Phi’s official mento- ring and scholarship program. The mentoring component of the program focuses on Afri- can American male students in grades 3-12, at the college/ university level, and the gradua-
te school level. The program’s primary goal for this biennium is to encourage every member boulé to mentor a group of at least ten African American males at a school in their local area for at least one hour monthly du- ring the academic year. Due to the pandemic, these mentoring sessions will be held virtually via Zoom until further notice. Each month, the program’s mentoring workshops will focus on various “life skills” topics such as: eti- quette, business attire, wealth acquisition, properly interacting
with law enforcement, and many other valuable topics. If the pan- demic conditions improve, the annual curriculum will conclu- de with an educational field trip opportunity to a local university, museum, fine dining establish- ment, or a visit to the corporate headquarters of a company in the local area. Each member boulé is encouraged to provide the young men with a dress shirt and tie for this outing and also take a professional group photo to highlight these young men in The Boulé Journal.
