PARITY PROJECT
Archon Landon Taylor
The Parity Project and NFI collaboration is an expan- sion of the partnership es- tablished between Base 11 and Sigma Pi Phi in 2018 when the organizations partnered in the advance- ment of the $1M Base 11 Space Challenge and the
facilitation of the Base 11’s $1.6Million HBCU Aerospace Grant Competition.
The Parity Project and NFI partnership will now seek to change the game for Black America by combining efforts, leadership, connections and resources to accelerate 50,000+ students and early career stage adults on their pathway to Next Frontier Industry careers by 2030.
It is common knowledge that Black Americans’ average net worth in 2016 was dismal when com- pared to the majority population. One huge con- tributor to the low net worth of Black Americans is the significant disparity in income from the types of jobs held and net profits generated from the types of businesses most commonly owned by African Americans. The Next Frontier Initiative will change the game for Black America by putting our highly talented students and professionals in an equitable position to compete and win in the most lucrative and influential industries of the 21st century.
These NFI industries include (but are not limited to):
• Data analytics • Cybersecurity • Fintech
• Aerospace
• Life sciences • Health care
• AR/VR
• Advanced manufacturing • Autonomous systems
The Parity Project and NFI will fully collaborate and serve to support and hopefully accelerate the objectives of the Grand Committees on So- cial Action, HBCUs, Blacks on Corporate Boards, Public Policy and Technology. Additionally, there will be a focus on helping to raise awareness of and support for the Boulé Foundation.
Thus far in the first 100 days, the following has been accomplished:
• Obtained enthusiastic buy-in from Grand-lev- el and regional leadership of the Fraternity.
• Established and signed an official MOU to me- morialize the Parity Project NFI partnership.
•Announced the partnership fraternity-wide on the October 30 press conference hosted by the Office of the Grand Boulé.
• Distributed a fraternity-wide invitation to at- tend the virtual NFI Conference & Expo 2020 where the partnership and the NFI Boulé Fellows Challenge will be announced to a national audience of leaders from industry, academia, philanthropy, government and students.
• Awarded NFI membership grants to 20+ HB- CUs enabling the broadcast of the NFI Con- ference & Expo 2020 to their entire student bodies.
Within the next two years (by the time we reach the Grand Boulé in the Bahamas), our goal is to empower 5,000 students and early career stage adults on their pathway to Next Frontier Industry careers.
