 GRAND OFFICERS
GRAND SIRE ARCHON Dwayne M. Murray
It’s been 100 days since I was installed as the 49th Grand Sire Archon of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, and I want to take a moment to share with you our progress. As I stated in July, our theme for the biennium is Vision, Leadership, and Action During Changing Times.
The vision of the Fraternity must be a powerful motivator, and our leadership must recognize and engage the human capital of the Fraternity. The actions we take must impact the nation and give our communities direction and support.
In the last 100 days, we have listened to you and we will use what we have heard to help guide our actions. We have held a number of formal listening sessions over the past several weeks, involving hundreds of Archons across our five regions and internationally. The input and feedback have covered several topics and some themes have emerged, clarifying our direction. One substantive
outcome is the launching of the Organizational Effectiveness Task Force, which will advance our organizational structure and operations to 21st century standards, a priority I originally spoke about during the historic virtual 55th Grand Boulé.
We have set several goals for our administration. Our number one goal will be strengthening our infrastructure to be fit for the future. Over the next two years, we will endeavor to design and implement a more efficient organization to meet the growing needs of our membership.
Also, I have challenged my senior leadership team to develop and begin executing relevant and appropriate action plans that align with our biennial theme and present-day challenges and opportunities. Reports of their progress over the last 100 days are enclosed for you review. Their work is a testament to their dedication to and love for our Fraternity.
Ultimately, we will be judged by what we do with the opportunity we have embraced. I think you will see that, so far, we are moving in the right direction. But leaders are unable to lead unless followers follow. This means that we will need your prayers, your constant feedback and fervent support if, ultimately, we are to be successful. The old African proverb rings true for African Americans too: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” We look forward to our journey together! I know we can count on you to do your part as well.
