RIVERSIDE COUNTY BLACK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 2018 ANNUAL REPORT
VITA
Equilla Edwards, Director
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Program (VITA)
The Riverside County Black Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Volunteer Income
Tax Assistance (VITA) program and offers free tax help to people who generally make $60,000
or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in
preparing their own tax returns. Our IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax
return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
IRS awards matching funds support to our free tax preparation services during the tax filing
season.
In 2016, RCBCC secured a three year contract with the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) to
provide free tax preparation services to our community. Since obtaining the contract we have
serviced more than 100 taxpayers, receive an average of $2,500 in federal tax refunds per filing.
This reinvests more than $250,000 into the community. We are now entering our third year of
the contract for 2019 and we look to increase our participation and return more funds into the
Inland Empire.
The goal is to advance the economic health of our Black Community.
