The Influence of Marketing with Amy Girgis

                                                                                       By Charleco Scipio Jr.

          Marketing Industry In uencers
Brands have a hefty task when it comes to Marketing. It’s changing fast and constantly. Seeking and
keeping attention is a core task today. Amy helped to explain this:
“I always say, now kids are not watching TV or listening to the Radio like when I was a kid. That’s how I
got my information. Now all they're focused on is their phone or tablet. If you're a brand you’ve got to
stay up to date on what's going on. If your prime demographic is kids, young adults, Millennials, and
you're spending all your ad money on TV and Radio, kids aren't even watching TV any more. They're
on their phones. You must nd a way to nd where they are and what makes sense for them.
That’s why I like Social Media In uencers because all their followers are Millennials that are making
purchasing decisions. “That’s the kicker. Today even young children have the power and access to make
purchasing decisions. All attention matters. That’s why Social Media In uencers are so key today. They inspire,
motivate and in uence people into wanting and eventually purchasing all kinds of products and services.

          A Little Bit of Advice
With vast experience comes great wisdom and advice. I asked Amy what advice she had for young people
looking to get into marketing or those who are already getting their feet wet. Here’s what she had to say:
“Being organic. Be Authentic. Be Genuine.
Go to college, get educated. Do the internships. Internships o er experience, opportunities to progress
and places to show skills, plus it looks great on your resume.”

          The Key to Communication
Lastly, I got to ask Amy what is one of the biggest pitfalls to e ective communication and her answer was simple:
“Ine ective listening. Many times, we want to get our thoughts and feelings out and when don’t listen to what
the person is truly saying. E ective listening is being completely present and focusing on what the person is saying. “
