Obituary
Floncy Mae Edmonds was born in, Talla Bena, Louisiana, just outside Tallulah to Isaac and
Rebecca Boykin on September 13, 1935. She had two brothers and a younger sister, James, John
and Brenda who all preceded her in death.
Floncy moved to California in 1945, she attended Thomas Jefferson high school and graduated
in 1954. there she met Billie Vance Edmonds, after he completed his military duties in 1956, the
two were united in marriage on June 17, 1956.
From this union they had three sons, Darryl Vance Edmonds (preceded her in death), Morton
Bernard Edmonds and Damion Kyle Edmonds. They also lovingly raised her sister’s two
children, Orlando Rayvon Wells and Stacy Lee Nichols, after her sister, Brenda passed away in
1971.
Floncy joined church at an early age and was devoted to the Lord where she faithfully served at
Pilgrim’s Hope Baptist Church under Pastor T.L. Willis until he went home to be with the lord.
Floncy joined with Brookins-Kirkland Community AME church in Los Angeles in 1994, where
she faithfully served until her health no longer allowed her to attend regularly.
In 2015 floncy moved to moreno valley, ca. to be closer to family and there she was under the
watch care of Trinity Baptist Church and Pastor Joseph L. Gueste.
After working for the State of California in the Los Angeles office of appeals for 42 years, Floncy
enjoyed serving others where she volunteered for 13 years with Kaiser Hospital as a senior
volunteer. She also worked as a volunteer every year with the L.A. Marathon passing out water
and snacks to the runners. Floncy enjoyed writing poetry and making greeting cards and would
send out cards to family & friends for every occasion.
Floncy Mae Edmonds left many to cherish her memories including her sons Morton Edmonds,
Damion Edmonds, Orlando Wells, Stacy Nichols, daughter-in-law Lisa Edmonds, grandchildren,
Morton Edmonds II, Dartel Edmonds, Damion Edmonds II, Alicia Edmonds and Sabrina
Edmonds, a host of great grandchildren, friends and loved ones.
