Object Handling 121
As mentioned above, as a Push object gets longer it will push other Push objects below it
out of the way, down the page, and if necessary the page will extend. But what if the
Push object subsequently gets shorter again (perhaps some text is deleted from a text
object)? Now there is space for the Push objects below it to move up the page again. So,
as long as the objects started off close together before the text was removed, that’s
exactly what happens – the lower Push objects move up, closing the gap that would
otherwise have been introduced. Similarly where appropriate the bottom of the page will
move up, making the page shorter.
Adding Hyperlinks
Use the Link button to open the Link Dialog. With this dialog you can apply
hyperlinks to selected text or any other object like photos or graphical elements.
When exporting your document to PDF (on page 594) this link is preserved. When you
click the link in the exported PDF file an internet browser will open and display the
specified web address.
Note: The links are ignored when exporting to bitmap files or when the document is
printed :)
The settings on this tab apply to the selected object(s) or selected text. To add a link to
just some of the words in a paragraph of text, go into the Text Tool and drag over the text
you want to link to select it. Then set up the link in this dialog.
Enter a web or email address to link to that address. If you leave the “CORRECT
AUTOMATICALLY” checkbox selected, your address will be adjusted if required when you
click OK or APPLY. For example, if you enter "www.example.com" it will correct it to
"http://www.example.com/".
