Navigation Bars
Web Designer Premium and Navigation bars
Most websites have a navigation bar, either horizontal or vertical, from which all the
important pages of the site can be accessed.
Xara Web Designer Premium includes special support for navigation bars (known as
NavBars for short), making it easy to add, edit and delete buttons. The buttons in a
NavBar can adjust their widths to match their labels automatically and they are
repositioned automatically after any changes you make. You can even add dropdown
menus and sub-menus to your bar and opt to have buttons automatically added and
deleted as you add and delete pages.
Advanced users can create their own bars from button designs of their own, and modify
the button designs used in an existing NavBar and have the new design applied across
the whole bar.
Using template Navigation bars
The ONLINE CONTENT CATALOG contains a wide range of template Navigation bars for you
to use. There are both horizontal and vertical bars and they are fully customizable. Just
import a bar from the gallery to place it on your page. Or replace an existing bar by
dropping the new one onto it – the new bar takes on all the button labels, links and
menus of the bar it replaces.
When you drop the bar you may be prompted to match the color scheme of the
document if the bar does not have the same color scheme. You can also use the Color
replacement feature to change the bar's colors - all without having to ungroup the bar into
its constituent objects. Just select the bar and click a color on the color line, or bring up
the color editor and choose the color you want to edit from the color dropdown list.
See Theme color schemes (on page 187) for more about editing color themes, and look
at Replacing colors (on page 189) to see how to easily customize colors.
