Sixty-seven people and two dogs in support of New Hope showed up at the Thrivent Financial grounds in Appleton on a windy May 3rd to show their team spirit and backing for New Hope Center in the 2014 Human Race.
“The 5k walk/run – hosted by the Vol- unteer Center of East Central Wisconsin, offered New Hope a fun event for our clients and staff with an opportunity for us to raise critical funds in support of our services,” said Greg
Logemann, CEO. “We’re humbled, hap-
py and very proud,” he continued. “We nev- er dreamed that this would become New Hope’s largest ever sin- gle-day fundraiser.”
Through the gen-
erous pledges of individuals, families, businesses, and the community, over $18,000 in pledges were raised secur- ing a third place standing for New Hope among participating teams in this year’s race.
Money raised by New Hope walkers/ runners directly supports the organiza- tion’s mission to inspire freedom and in-
dependence in the lives of people with disabilities throughout its areas of ser- vice. Additionally, participation in the event extended outreach and aware- ness throughout East Central Wisconsin for the Chilton based non-profit.
The Volunteer Cen- ter’s 14th Annual Human Race had over 800 people participate in the 5K non-competitive walk/run to support 43 nonprofits in the Fox Valley. Bill Jartz and Cami Rapson
from WBAY-TV, and Doug Erickson and Mary Love of the Doug and Mary morn- ing show on KZ 104.3 emceed the event - AND members of the UW Marching Band helped the Volunteer Center in celebrat- ing the amazing efforts of so many in the East Central Wisconsin community.
Thank you to those who joined us - we hope to see you again next year! ♥
