Desirable attributes and characteristics for the new County Executive Officer include but are not limited to the following:
• A solid leader and role model with a positive presence
• who demonstrates initiative, is action-oriented, exercises
good judgment, treats others with respect, and is open and approachable.
• A record of developing and maintaining effective professional relationships with the Board of Supervisors, County staff, other public agencies, the news media, and the public.
• The ability to deliver information and comprehensive research to the Board in a balanced and unbiased manner. Options and solutions will include different sides to an issue with strengths, weakness, opportunities, and risks for each alternative.
• An effective communicator and good listener who is approachable, trustworthy, respectful, and accessible.
• A leader who inspires others to commit to the organization’s ideals and to contribute their best through honesty, open communication, and high integrity.
• Experienced in County and State procedures and compliance standards.
• The ability to oversee the County’s technical and administrative activities, including long range planning, analysis, and evaluation of all County departments.
• An individual who motivates and collaborates with department heads and staff and who insists on a culture of respect, accountability, and transparency.
• A visionary and innovative leader and manager who has a record of working effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a political environment, who can manage change effectively, and is willing and able to make tough decisions when necessary.
• A demonstrated record of accomplishment in the development and maintenance of strong customer service in the delivery of public services.
• A proven history assessing and evaluating departmental efficiencies to collaborate on improvements and positive change as needed.
• A desire to continually learn new ideas and state of the art concepts to improve staff performance, business methodology and processes, and use of current technologies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, business administration, economics or a related field, AND five years of progressively responsible local government administrative experience involving budgetary analysis and control, financial and fiscal planning, personnel management, and organizational systems, procedures, economic development strategies and programs, integration of technology solutions, and program analysis work.
• Master’s degree desirable.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this contract position is $200,000 - $250,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
