Ace

The horse's name is Ace, for on his face

there is a race with an "A"-shaped trace.

And even though he has to wear a knee

brace with a two-foot lace, Ace always sets

a fast pace, and with grace he usually wins

first place.

Story 37

The Dog Chase

Because the mailman had to squirt Bow Wow with mace, and
because Bow Wow knocked over a flower vase, chewed up

third base and a briefcase - her master put her in the safe
place of a dog chase.

Story 38

Love in Second Grade

I would never, never trade those times, those wonderful times in second grade.

Do you remember that cool mountain lake in which we used to wade, our picnics
within a willow's shade, and how we loved selling lemonade?

Do you remember that forest glade? It was there you gave me a precious jade,

and I in turn promised my love would never fade !
