Story 80: Not a Shred of Sense
Ned and Fred pled with their mom to use
their sled.
Their mother replied, "But the ice is hard,
and if you fall, it will feel like lead. Besides,
isn't it too slippery for the thoroughbred?
Nevertheless, if you insist, go ahead. But I
dread, something tragic lies ahead."
They led the horse to the bridle shed, and
hitched her to the sled. Then they jumped
aboard, and at top speed sped, across their
snowy homestead.
As you may have guessed, both boys
ended up nearly dead. Ned had a cracked
head; and Fred, cuts that profusely bled!
