Intermediate Musical Theatre Academy Course
Who can attend the Intermediate Musical Theatre Academy Course?
Students ranging from P5-age 21 who are focused, have a strong vocal ability and hope to carve out a career in
performing arts. This advanced course covers Acting, Singing and Dance at an advanced level for this age
grouping, as well as other vocational subjects.
How often do students attend the Intermediate Musical Theatre Academy Course?
Students on this course attend for 6 hours, two days per week. There are classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
for this course.
What productions are students on this course involved in?
Christmas and Summer Show tuition is included in the Senior School Intermediate Musical Theatre Academy
course. Students may also be involved in class sharings throughout term time.
What is taught in classes?
Intermediate Musical Theatre subjects are taught at an advanced level and include:
Acting Acting for theatre, acting for film & television, devising, improvisation work, script work monologues,
LAMDA exam class
Singing Ensemble singing, vocal technique, pop singing, musical theatre, building on singing repertoire,
performance class, LCM exam class
Dance Jazz, ballet, tap, commercial dance, contemporary, stretching and body conditioning class and
performance class
Exams Intermediate Musical Theatre students have the option to be presented for LAMDA & LCM
examinations. LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and LCM (London College of
Music) certification can go towards the student’s UCAS points from grade 5 upward.
All end of term exams are optional.
Do students wear a uniform?
Yes, full UKTheatreSchool uniform should be worn to classes each week. For all of our advanced courses,
students wear a UKTheatreSchool t-shirt (red logo), plain black trousers, leggings or shorts, black socks and black
jazz shoes.
