Advanced Musical Theatre Course (AMT)
Who can attend the Advanced Musical Theatre Course?
Successful applicants ranging from S3 - age 21 who are focused, have a strong vocal ability and hope to carve out
a career in performing arts. This advanced course covers Acting, Singing and Dance at advanced level for this
age grouping, as well as other vocational subjects.
How often do students attend the Advanced Musical Theatre Course?
Students on this course attend for 9 hours over two days per week. There are classes on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays for this course.
What productions are students on this course involved in?
Christmas and Summer Show tuition is included in the Senior School Advanced Musical Theatre Academy course.
Students may also be involved in class sharings throughout term time. They also perform in their own end of year
Cabaret & Review Show as well as being involved in UKTS high profile events and seasonal holiday academy
showcases.
What is taught in classes?
AMT subjects are taught at an advanced level (above Intermediate Musical Theatre) and include:
Acting Acting for theatre, acting through song, devising, improvisation work, musical theatre script work,
monologues, audition technique, audition preparation, LAMDA exam class, performance related
rehearsals, acting for film & TV
Singing Ensemble singing, solo, singing, vocal technique, pop singing, microphone technique, music theory,
building on musical theatre repertoire, individual vocal coachings, LCM exam class, recording studio
experience, performance related rehearsals
Dance Jazz, RAD ballet technique, tap, commercial dance, lyrical jazz, decades of musical theatre dance,
musical theatre choreography and performance class, performance related rehearsals
Exams AMT Course students have the option to be presented for LAMDA & LCM examinations. LAMDA
(London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and LCM (London College of Music) certification can
go towards the student’s UCAS points from grade 5 upward.
All end of term exams are optional.
Do students wear a uniform?
Yes, full UKTheatreSchool uniform should be worn to classes each week. For all of our advanced courses,
students wear a UKTheatreSchool t-shirt (red logo), plain black trousers, leggings or shorts, black socks and black
jazz shoes.
