Junior School


            Introductory Courses

            Who can attend the Junior School Introductory Courses?
            Students ranging from age 3 - Primary 4 who wish to attend UKTheatreSchool to acquire introductory performing
            arts skills relevant to their age.

            How often do students attend the Junior School Introductory Courses?
            On  a  Sunday  morning,  students  can  attend  for  either  45  minutes  for  the Junior  Rhythm  &  Move  Course  (for
            children age 3 years and above) or 1.5 hours for the Junior Sing & Act Course.  Children from Primary 4 age can
            attend Intro to Acting or Intro to Musical Theatre, one evening per week.  These classes are on Monday evenings.

            What productions are students on these courses able to be involved in?
            Students on these courses are involved in class sharings to small audiences.  For larger productions, students must
            take part in Mainstream or Advanced courses as rehearsals take place during these class times.

            What is taught in classes?
            During Introductory classes, the core performing arts subjects include:

            Junior Rhythm & Move   From age 3 years.  This course introduces children to the joy of dancing/moving to
                                   music. Using favourite songs as well as new songs, the children will sing and dance and
                                   use small musical instruments.  They will begin to understand rhythm, timing and how
                                   sounds are formed. We encourage the children to develop their imagination and
                                   co-ordination skills.  This class is excellent fun!

            Junior Sing & Act      From  age  3  years.    Using  fun  songs  that  children  love  and  introducing  the  skills  to
                                   appropriately act through song. This early stages singing and acting class allows
                                   children to have a great time while enhancing their creativity and allowing their
                                   imaginations to run wild!

            Intro to Acting        From  Primary  4  and  above.    Acting  technique,  role  play,  improvisation,  acting  with
                                   props, script work, audition preparation.

            Intro to Musical Theatre   From Primary 4 and above.  Ensemble singing, building on singing repertoire, singing
                                   with movement, applying acting through song, applying technique to performance.

            Do students wear uniform?
            Yes, full UKTheatreSchool uniform should be worn to classes each week.  For our Introductory courses, students
            wear a UKTheatreSchool t-shirt (white logo), plain black trousers, leggings or shorts, black socks and black jazz
            shoes.
