An estimated one million children have lost a parent to
COVID-19. Children who lose a parent are at elevated risk
of traumatic grief, depression, poor educational outcomes,
and suicide. Guardians of these children have difficulty

finding support services to help cope with their loss. Grief is
not prescriptive, however; the more relatable content that
is made available, the better their chances of gravitating
 toward something that can help.

 WHY IS IT

IMPORTANT TO TELL While this script focuses on processing grief through yogic practices, the spiritual ele-

ment is more about finding one’s path, identity, and independence than it is specifically
THIS STORY NOW? about yoga. Still, at the same time, it does use yogic practices and teachings as a meta-

phor for Sam’s journey of personal healing and discovery. Yoga is not the only means for
healing grief; it is only one path. Any practice that supports a person and allows them
to find a quiet center, teaching them to be present so they can be with their grief and re-

        lease it, ultimately serves them.
