Cyber-Smuggling and Online Investigations
(Cyber Training to International Partners)

The course is designed to teach investigators how to conduct undercover
online investigations in which they chat with suspects in real time. The
course will include lectures and practical exercises and provide instruction on
the following topics: HSI general authorities, technical fundamentals of the
internet, encryption and decryption, mobile messaging platforms, virtual
machines, peer-to-peer, VPNs and proxy servers, chatrooms and other online
messaging platforms, open source and social media research, online gaming
platforms, dark web forums and messaging boards, undercover
activities/personas, backstopping, setting up a workstation, SOLIS,
cryptocurrency, search and seizure of electronic evidence/computer
forensics, and an overview of the ARMOR program.
