                                    3 | Page January 3 1 I ssueThe Kansas Association of Counties is hosting the fourth annual County Day at the Capitol event that is focused on raising awareness of the importance of local county government across Kansas. The 2025 County Day at the Capitol Event event will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Kansas State Capitol in Downtown Topeka.Kansas Counties, Affiliates, Associates, and external partners, we need your participation in filling up the first-floor rotunda (including north and south wings) of the State Capitol with displays and representatives from your organizations. This is a prime opportunity to network with legislators oneon-one to advocate for your county and discuss the challenges you face in your role in county government.Table Space Reservation. Each Kansas County, Affiliate, Associate, and external partner organization who registers for a table space will receive a 6-foot table and two chairs (additional chairs available upon request). There are approximately 30 table spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. Easels (one per table space) are also available upon request.2025 Legislative Liaisons Weekly BriefingsThe Kansas Association of Counties is once again hosting weekly Legislative Liaisons calls to keep you, our Kansas County members, informed on all the latest updates during the 2025 Kansas Legislative Session. This weekly Zoom will take place each Friday during the session from January 17- May 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. CT. These calls are open to any county employee who wishes to attend. Pre-registration is required.Please feel free to join as often as your schedule allows. We will review what happened that week with the Legislature, share with you what to expect the following week, discuss what we need your help with and how you can get plugged in, and answer any questions that you may have.REGISTER HERE for the weekly Zoom call series in advance. Upon completion of your registration, you will then be registered for all future meetings. You will receive a confirmation email with Zoom meeting connection information.January 31 Weekly Legislative Update & One Big ThingWelcome to the 2025 Kansas Legislative Session. This is the first year of the biennium, so bills and resolutions from the 2024 Session do not carry over to the 2025 Session. Bill numbers do not carry over, meaning they start over at 1 (Senate) or 2001 (House).
