went to see his dying grandmother in the hospital for
the last time. Steve’s friend invited him to go along
for support. When they arrived in the room, he
(Steve’s friend) said to his grandmother, “I love you,
I love you, I love you.” His grandmother said,
“Baby, I’m not going to make it; I’m going home. I
called you to my room to ask you a question: Do
you know your great-grandfather’s name?” He said,
“No.” She then said, “You don’t know his name
because he didn’t leave you anything. When I die, I
want you to leave this place and live your life to the
fullest, so your children’s grandchildren will know
your name. The only way they will know who you
are is that you have to leave them with something.”
When I first heard this story, chills rolled down
my back. I told myself that I was going to live a life
that my descendants will know my name and teach
them the principles I learned in life.
One way my descendants will know my name is
writing a book. I realize that writing a book makes a
person IMMORTAL. Books will still exist when
you are dead and gone. Even God knows the
