‘Christos-Sophia -The Divine Ministry- The Completion of Christ’s Mission’.
Alter Realism.
The backdrop to the compositional space represents the Cosmic intent of the Divine Absolute.
Three components form the narrative of this phase of Christ’s Mission.
The Dove representing Sophia - {Divine Wisdom}.
The Dove is present in all three elements of the triptych and signifies the continuous co-existence and oneness of
the Trinity.
Christ is triumphant in his ascension into heaven. The painting is by Raphael which is part of the scheme for the
Signature Room {commissioned by Pope Julius II in 1508} which were then the private apartments of the
Apostolic Palaces for the Pope Julius II della Rovere.
The element of Christ and the Dove are referenced from the painting ‘The Trinity’.
The assembly of angels that witness Christ { formed in mirror image} are taken from life size clay figures
exhibited in the Picture Gallery.
